How to start a conversation about gaming

A simple way to connect with your child and understand their gaming world is by asking the right questions. Here are some conversation starters to help you dive into their favorite hobby. Remember, try to stay positive and curious. This is a big part of their world and we want to show them that we are genuinely interested.

Here are some helpful questions to get started:

  • Which games are your favorite?
  • Can you tell me what it’s about?
  • What is your character/avatar and why did you choose that?
  • Do you have any special powers?
  • Do you usually play alone or with other people?
  • Who do you like to play with?
  • How do you feel when you’re gaming?
  • How does it feel after a great game?
  • What are the best parts about gaming?
  • What are your favorite moments when you are gaming?
  • When was the last time something upset you in a game?
  • Can I watch you play next time?
  • Could we play together, and you could try to teach me?
