Highly recommended for families worried about screen time
I have to say, I’m really surprised by how interested both kids were—far more than I ever expected. It felt like the cards gave them permission to talk openly about what they see online and how they feel without me hovering or lecturing.

I needed something like this 20 years ago.
Unfortunately, today a kid in school that is not connected to at least SOME social media, even with all the parental controls, is as much as an outcast. Doing it responsibly is not easy. This box of conversation cards is the perfect way to introduce them to the dangers and show them how to do it right.

Enjoying time with family!!!
These cards make family time real fun, deep, and sometimes hilarious. We’ve had the best conversations, way better than staring at our phones.

Every family with kids needs these
I honestly feel like this or something like it should be required before ever handing a kid an ipad or letting them play an online multiplayer game.

Important discussions and conversation starters
Great starting point for hard and useful conversations with our 11 and 8 years old who are navigating online. An area, I didn't have to navigate when I was their age. I feel better going through these because I understand their thought process, listen and offer some insight when I can.

Homeschool family
I have two boys who love gaming and FaceTiming their friends. These have great conversation starters.
I love that it’s giving me the opportunity to discuss things with them BEFORE incidents happen.
FAQ
Here’s what parents often ask about the Raising Digital Citizens Kit:
What is the recommended age to start using the kit?
The kit is suitable for kids of all ages, but we believe it’s most effective to start these conversations when children are young — when they still listen to us. In general, ages 7 to 12 are ideal. Starting earlier is also possible; you might just have to select the topics that feel most relevant or adjust the language slightly to fit your child’s age and maturity. The earlier these conversations begin, the more natural and meaningful they become over time.
How do I know what to say?
You don’t need to have all the answers. You don't need to be an expert in technology. The kit is designed to guide you as well as your child. With the conversation cards, each card includes prompts that help spark conversations — without putting pressure on you to know. If you're unsure how to respond, try asking your child what they think. The goal is to explore together.
If you are curious to know more and you want to feel more confident to answer your kid's questions, feel free to read all the expert-written content, articles, guides and quizzes on Raising Digital Citizens.
Do I need to follow the cards in a specific order?
Not necessarily. You can move through them at your own pace and in whatever order fits your child’s current experiences. If you prefer more structure or feel unsure where to begin, the cards are already arranged in a thoughtful order that works well from start to finish. You can follow it as a guide or mix and match based on your child’s needs.
Parenting is already hard and busy. How do I make time for this?
We know — there’s never enough time. That’s why the kit is built for flexibility. You can use it once a week at dinner, quickly in the car during the school drop-off, or extensively an evening around the fireplace. These small conversations add up and create long-term habits. It’s not about being perfect — it’s about showing up consistently.
What if my child isn’t interested or gives one-word answers?
That’s completely normal — some children need time to open up, especially around sensitive or unfamiliar topics. It helps not to use the cards in a formal way. Some parents have had success blending one of our questions into another conversation card deck they were already having, or simply memorising a question and asking it naturally at another moment. The key is to keep things low-pressure and consistent. Even short, casual check-ins can build trust over time.
Can I use the kit with more than one child?
Yes! The cards work well in one-on-one conversations or as part of a group discussion. You might be surprised how much siblings learn from each other when these conversations happen together.
